Wrap-up blog post

Through out the semester, I learned many things in this Com210 class. Through out the course, we had many different assignments. My favorite assignment that was assigned to us was the Photoshop tutorials. I have always enjoyed using Photoshop, and when the tutorials were assigned to us I found it quite easy to navigate my way through them. And although I was already familiar with most of these tools, I did find myself learning a few new tricks.
In the future, I believe I will find myself using the blog creation tools that we learned in the beginning of the semester. Blogs are getting bigger and bigger, and in the future I would not be surprised if I found myself having to make another one. After designing and writing onto my WordPress; I now believe I have a better feel for what blogging is like.
In the future, I see myself working in the public relations field. However while in this class, I came very close to changing my major to digital design. I was actually pretty positive I was going to make the switch, but right before I did I got a call saying I was now certified into the school of communication.
I believe I learned many useful skills throughout this course. I can not pin point a certain skill that we didn’t learn that I wish we would have, I wish we would have focused on the Photoshop section a bit more but that’s only because that’s what I enjoyed the most. I think every section we covered in this class was very valuable.
The links provided to us to learn these portions of the course were extremely helpful, and I did not find myself going to other websites for instruction.
I enjoyed this course and although at times some of the pieces got frustrated, I am glad I took it and I am sad to see it go!

Here is my final video story. For this story, I stuck with the theme “about me.” I didn’t really know how I could portray this in video, so I figured a short “day in the life” type video might be a good choice. Obviously each day for me is a little different, so to make this video I just thought of a few small things that I do everyday and mushed it up into a little video.
To begin, I started with me doing my hair, then transitioned into me doing my makeup. These two scenes took the longest to film, so I had to speed them up on premiere using the ‘rate stretch’ tool. Since they were so long,  it looks like I am moving at lightning speed because of how fast I had to make them so they didn’t take up too much time.
Next, I did a scene of me trying on three different jackets, putting on my backpack and walking out the door. I wanted to take a scene of me walking, but it was dark out so I had to do without it. The next scene flashes to a quick shot of my feet in a tanning bed, since that’s something I do pretty much everyday.
After that, its basically just scenes of my life at home. Walking through the door, doing homework, eating, and going to bed.
To make this final, I first added background music. I chose the song ‘Work it’ by Jake Allison which I downloaded off of freemusicarchive.com. It was quite difficult finding a song, I needed something upbeat but most of the songs did not seem to be this way. I also changed the font in my beginning credits, to something cuter and pink. It seemed to be more fitting.
I am pleased with the way this video turned out and I enjoyed making it.

This video is clearly a draft, it is very silent and to fix that I plan on adding some music into the background. Also, on some scenes it doesn’t cut out or transition as nicely as it should and that is something I would like to fix as well. It’s also quite blurry, so I’d like to try and figure out how I could make the quality better.
This however did turn out nicer than I thought it would, and I am excited to see the end result.

Final Audio Story

Here is my final audio story. As you can tell, I stuck with the theme about me. I interviewed two of my good friends where I asked them what their first impression of me was and what their favorite memory of us was. It was interesting and funny hearing their responses and I thought they would tie in great for my audio story.
For this project, I decided to just talk about my friends and the memories we have together. To do this, I recorded my voice on Audition and some what narrated the story so the listeners wouldn’t get confused what was going on or what I was talking about. I really enjoyed interviewing my friends because they brought up things I had completely forgot about and because of this there was a lot of laughter I had to edit out of these clips. There was  also a lot of pauses, so when I was done putting everything together I had to go through and edit them all out. I think this took me the most time
To make some changes on my final, I wasn’t quite sure what to do at first. But after looking at some other students audio stories, I decided that I should add some music into the background so the story doesn’t sound so plain. After scrolling for what seemed like forever on soundcloud in search of the perfect tune, I decided on the tune “locura”. I thought it had a nice sound to it and wouldn’t be too distracting from the story itself. I did lose the original link to this tune, but to avoid copyright I got the tune from the creative common portion on soundcloud and the tune is called “locura.”
I am quite pleased with how my final story turned out. Thanks for listening!

For my final audio story, I’m not really sure what I would like to do. I might add some music into the background or maybe change up my story line a little bit, because right now I think it sounds kind of random and a little all over the place. I am excited to see how my final turns out, thanks for listening to my draft!
